End of Oprah's Book Club

With the end of her show has come the end of Oprah's televised book club. The company has said that it may continue in some form on her network. Launched September 1996, the club has had 65 selections. The first selection was The Deep End of the Ocean by Jacquelyn Mitchard, while the final was a double selection of Great Expectations and A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens.

With the end of the club, the Neilsen Company has compiled a list of the top ten bestselling books from the list:

1. A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle (January 2005)
2. A Million Little Pieces by James Frey (September 2005)
3. Night by Elie Wiesel (January 2006)
4. The Road by Cormac McCarthy (March 2007)
5. We Were the Mulvaneys by Joyce Carol Oates (January 2001)
6. East of Eden by John Steinbeck (June 2003)
7. The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett (November 2007)
8. Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquz (October 2007)
9. Icy Sparks by Gwyn Hyman Rubio (March 2001)
10. The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski (October 2008)
